Quick Overview

We have 4 great saw options if you are going camping. These are the fixed saw suggestions, starting from the smallest to the largest. Choose between these saws based on your storage abilities and your cutting needs. The longer the blade, the faster your cutting will be as you have more teeth going through the timber but remember, the longer the blade, the more control you will need to have.

A fixed saw is stronger and more comfortable to use due to the moulded handle and full tang blade.

The Gomtaro is just the best saw. In our opinion, it is the saw that everyone in the world should own. It's like that great friend who can do just about anything. They aren't really an expert at anything, but they give everything a red hot go and the outcome is quite good!

The Natanoko 2000 is like the forgotten middle child. This is a strong hard working saw that will tackle most jobs really well. If you want a saw that will cut small and large branches with ease and at a good speed, this is your partner. It has what we call an arched blade. Not really curved or straight but is brilliant for all angles of cutting.

The Sugoi is simply amazing! With a new technology tooth, this saw is super sharp. It has a 42cm long blade which will cut logs in two, in no time. It is perfect for cutting firewood or clearing tracks.

The Genki 500 is HUGE. This is a 1/2 metre long saw.  There is no need for a chainsaw when this one is on board. With its super large teeth this is definitely designed to clear a fallen tree or cut up some seriously- sized branches.

All saws mentioned are fixed saws that come in a protective case that can be attached to the body if wanted. They have the special Gom rubber handles which gives exceptional comfort whilst cutting. All of the saws have NON-set teeth. This means that they give a very smooth, easy cut. You can NOT sharpen the Gomtaro or the Natanoko, but they will stay sharp for an extremely long time, due to a special treatment on the tips of the teeth . The Sugoi and Genki CAN be sharpened. These are ALL PULL saws so do not put excessive pressure on the forward stroke as this can cause the blade to be damaged. All pressure should be as you are drawing the blade toward yourself. These saws are designed to do the work for you so only a very small amount of pressure is required as you PULL the blade. When you push it you are simply clearing the wood out of the teeth. Blades are all hollow-ground which reduces the chance of getting the blade stuck whilst cutting. There is a protective coating on all 4 blades but we still strongly recommend that all saw blades are cleaned after use with the EASy cleaning spray and then sprayed with a Lanolin lubricant.
